February 13, 2025 Publication of the Results of the Solicitation for Opinions on the Draft Ministerial Ordinance to Partially Amend the Regulations for Enforcement of the Radio Act and the Revised Version of the Guidelines -Development of Systems for Maritime Use of Local 5G-
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) solicited opinions on a draft ministerial ordinance to partially amend the Regulations for Enforcement of the Radio Act, with the aim of introducing maritime use of local 5G, from Saturday, November 23, 2024 to Monday, December 23, 2024.
As a result, 16 opinions were submitted, so the submitted opinions and MIC's stance on these opinions were published, and a revised version of the “Guidelines for Local 5G Implementation” was published based on the results of the solicited opinions.
1. Purpose and background
Since local 5G can be used flexibly by various entities such as local companies and local governments in accordance with the individual needs of regions and industries, it is expected to contribute to solving issues and revitalizing various regions throughout the country.
After receiving a partial report from the Information and Communications Council in July 2024 on the technical conditions for the maritime use of local 5G, MIC solicited opinions on a draft ministerial ordinance to partially amend the Regulations for Enforcement of the Radio Act based on the results of said report, and 16 opinions were submitted.
2. Results of the solicitation for opinions
The “Guidelines for Local 5G Implementation” have been amended based on the results of the solicitation for opinions.
3. Official announcement and enforcement
Based on the results of the solicitation for opinions, MIC plans to promptly make the amendments.
