Approval of the Decision by Fund Corporation for the Overseas Development of Japan’s ICT and Postal Services (JICT) to Support the Target Project
(Support for the Enhancement of the Indoor Carrier-neutral Hosting Project in Indonesia)
Today, the Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications approved the application submitted by the Fund Corporation for the Overseas Development of Japan’s ICT and Postal Services Inc. (headed by OSHIMA Amane, President & CEO) for support to enhance the indoor carrier-neutral hosting project in Indonesia.
1. Background
The Fund Corporation for the Overseas Development of Japan’s ICT and Postal Services Inc. (hereinafter referred to as “JICT”) has submitted an application to the Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications for approval of its decision to provide support for the enhancement of the indoor carrier-neutral hosting project in Indonesia (hereinafter referred to as the “project”) under the provisions of Article 25, Paragraph 2 of the Act on the Fund Corporation for the Overseas Development of Japan’s ICT and Postal Services (Act No. 35 of 2015).
In response to the application, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) examined the businesses and contents of the project subject to support according to JICT Support Standards by JICT (MIC Notice No. 412, 2015). As a result, it has been recognized that the project meets the support standards. Accordingly, the Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications has today approved the application as requested.
2. Target project
JICT plans to provide support through loans and investments of up to 1 billion yen to enhance the indoor carrier-neutral hosting project in Indonesia together with dhost Global, Inc., a subsidiary of EXEO Group, Inc. This support is related to the project approved for support on January 18, 2021, and project approved for support (additional support) on May 30, 2023.
This project involves enhancing indoor antenna equipment procured from local mobile carriers to 5G, etc., and providing services to multiple telecommunications carriers while operating and maintaining the equipment, and by acquiring knowledge related to the construction and operation of next-generation communications such as 5G through this support, it is expected to provide opportunities for the expansion of 5G and other technologies to neighboring countries in Southeast Asia.
