- Technical Requirements for Telecommunications Facilities for Intercarrier Roaming in Emergency (hereinafter referred to as the "Intercarrier Roaming Technical Requirements") -
Today, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) received a partial report from the Information and Communications Council, chaired by ENDO Nobuhiro, Special Advisor to NEC Corporation, regarding the Intercarrier Roaming Technical Requirements. These requirements form part of the IP Switchover Technical Requirements (Information and Communications Council Consultation No. 2020, dated October 31, 2005).

1. Background
The IP Network Facilities Subcommittee, chaired by AIDA Hitoshi, specially-appointed professor at the University of Tokyo, under the ICT Subcommittee of the Information and Communications Council, has been studying the IP Switchover Technical Requirements since November 2005.
The IP Network Facilities Subcommittee reviewed the Intercarrier Roaming Technical Requirements and compiled a report on them. Subsequently, this matter was deliberated by the ICT Subcommittee, chaired by TAKADA Junichi, Executive Vice President in charge of Global Affairs at the Institute of Science Tokyo, and a professor at the School of Environment and Society. Finally, the MIC received a partial report from the Information and Communications Council today.
2. Future plans
Based on this partial report, the MIC will continue to promote the introduction of Intercarrier Roaming in Emergencies.
