February 5, 2026 Results of the APT Senior Official Policymaking Training Workshop (hereinafter the "APT Workshop")

 The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) supported the APT Workshop organized by the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT). The APT Workshop is intended for senior officials responsible for policymaking in the ICT sector in the Asia-Pacific region. At the workshop, Japan’s knowledge and experience are shared, and human networks among participating countries are strengthened.

1. Purpose of the meeting

 The APT* is an international organization dedicated to the balanced development of telecommunications and information infrastructure in the Asia-Pacific region. It supports the development of the ICT sector in the region through training, seminars, and other human resource development activities, as well as through regional policy coordination, including telecommunications standardization and frequency allocation. With the aim of contributing to the international community, demonstrating leadership in the Asia-Pacific region, and supporting the overseas expansion of Japan’s ICT industry, the MIC makes voluntary financial contributions to the APT.
 The APT Workshop, organized by the APT, is one of the recent initiatives that utilize Japan’s financial contributions. The workshop is intended for officials responsible for policymaking at telecommunications agencies in each country in the Asia-Pacific region. It aims to provide a multifaceted perspective on addressing social issues through ICT, enhance participants’ policymaking capabilities, deepen mutual understanding, and foster personal networks that will lead to future collaboration.

* APT: Was established in 1979 as an international organization specializing in ICT in the Asia-Pacific region and headquartered in Bangkok, Thailand.

3. Future policy

 The MIC will continue to support ICT applications that contribute to addressing social issues of each country in the Asia-Pacific region through collaboration with the APT. The MIC will also actively contribute to capacity building for government officials and strengthening human networks in these countries.
